An early goal by FC-s Iain Ramsay was cancelled out late on by substitute Fabian Iacovelli, despite the home side going down to 10-men in the 66th minute when left-back Mario Simic was shown his second yellow card by referee Tim McGilchrist.
The visitors couldn-t have dreamed of a better start though, when Simic was ruled to have taken down a rampaging Adam Casey in the opening minutes to pick up his first yellow of the match. Ramsay then stepped up to the ensuing free-kick and curled it perfectly into the top left corner.
From that moment on, though, the Jets dominated proceedings and strike pair Jason Naidovski and Mirjan Pavlovic began to cause havoc with the Sky Blues- backline.
The strikers had opportunities to restore parity in the 25th and 29th minutes respectively after neat interplay between the two created openings in the Sydney defence. However, some superb work by goalkeeper Ivan Necevski maintained FC-s advantage heading into the main interval.
Central defender Scott Balderson made two marauding runs forward either side of the halftime break, and hit stinging drives on both occasions, only to see his strikes fly harmlessly over the bar.
Disaster then struck midway through the half when Simic was shown his second yellow card for being deemed to have committed another foul deep inside the Jets- half.
With time winding down, the Jets called upon all their determination, and were rewarded for their spirited efforts in the 79th minute when Iacovelli stole in at the near post to tap home a low cross from Jarrad Ross on the left touchline to level matters.
The draw leaves the Jets in 7th place on the NYL ladder on 21 competition points.
