The Newcastle Jets youth team have been knocked out of the NBN State League semi-finals following a 3-0 loss to Edgeworth Eagles at Jack McLaughlan Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Extra-time was needed after neither side was able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes of play.
Edgeworth hit the front with a goal from the penalty spot three minutes into the opening period of extra-time.
The Eagles doubled their lead with less than 10 minutes remaining and the Jets’ task was made even more difficult when captain Mason Campbell was sent off with a second yellow card.
Edgeworth put the victory beyond any doubt with a third goal just before the final whistle.
