Leicester City midfielder Robert Paratore will join the Newcastle Jets on a one-week trial next week.
The 19-year-old Australian has spent four seasons in the youth ranks of the Foxes and will begin his trial with the Jets next Monday.
“Robert is coming out on Monday and he’ll be with us for a week,” Newcastle Jets head coach Phil Stubbins said.
“His CV is pretty strong, he’s played for a Club in the English Premier League in their youth system and he’s been there for four years.
“He’s a genuine screening, holding midfield player and hopefully things work out and he acquits himself well.”
Stubbins said the Jets would look closely at what Paratore has to offer during the trial period.
“I think for our own diligence, a one-week trial is the way to go,” Stubbins said.
“We’ve decided that we need to give that window of opportunity to ourselves to have a look at the player and also for the kid to come out here and represent himself in the right way.
“The kid has shown a lot of passion about wanting to return to Australian football.”
