Jets take confidence to Perth

“It is a mental thing playing in Perth, I don’t think we played bad the last time, we were just unfortunate,” Ryan Griffiths said.

Forward Ryan Griffiths believes the Jets will take confidence into Friday night-s Round 11 clash with Perth Glory, following a solid performance when the two sides met earlier this season in Round 5.

While the Jets didn-t bring a point home from nib Stadium first time around, they were certainly gallant in the 3-2 defeat.

“It is a mental thing playing in Perth and, I don-t think we played bad the last time, we were just unfortunate,” Griffiths said.

“We should have the confidence to go over there and get a result, they are below us on the ladder and down on confidence, so it is a good chance to capitalise on that.”

Griffiths, who returns this week following suspensions, hopes his team can regain their confidence after losing four of their last six games against the eighth-placed Glory.

“It is always easy to pick and choose what went wrong when you are in the stand,” the forward said about last Saturday-s loss.

“The desire was there, what we were lacking was getting the ball. When you have younger players come in, it is hard for them to say, ‘hang on I have to stand up and do this-.

“Confidence looked low but when we are back here at training and it is rising again.

“Sometimes you have to take the game by the scruff of the neck and have a go, and get that confidence back.”

The Jets travel to Perth on Wednesday, train at nib Stadium on Thursday before Friday night-s game.
