Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) and the Newcastle Jets were happy to lend a helping hand to New Lambton Football Club with a Goals for Grassroots donation at the Hyundai A-League game on Saturday.
Just for being selected New Lambton FC received $1,000 with the opportunity to increase their donation amount by an extra $1,000 for every goal Newcastle Jets scored. The Hyundai A-League club scored 2 goals during the game taking their donation total to $3,000.
“We are a club that is dedicated to the promotion of girls playing football,” New Lambton FC representative Chris May said.
“Our club has seen a great amount of growth over the last five years but this growth means we are in desperate need of some new equipment. The Hyundai grant will help us purchase new goals for our younger teams.”
The Hyundai Goals for Grassroots program was initiated to support the growth of football in Australia by nurturing the game at its grassroots level. It has been running for five years and it offers support to local clubs across the country by providing funding in much needed areas. Already over $300,000 has been donated to worthy grassroots clubs around Australia.
“Hyundai and Newcastle Jets get enormous pleasure seeing the young future football stars down at the match cheering on their local teams,” Jets player Ryan Griffiths said.
“The future and the heart of the game are here with the kids, and we are delighted to be able to play a part in encouraging and nurturing the community teams.
Local and community based clubs can apply for selection in the program by completing an on-line application indicating why their club should receive support from the Hyundai Goals for Grassroots program during Season 8 of the Hyundai A-League.
Applications can be completed here. To be eligible, clubs must belong to an association affiliated with the Football Federation Australia (FFA). The Hyundai Goals for Grassroots Facebook page will feature the winning team each week and will work as an online community where clubs can share stories and tips.
