The Newcastle Jets have departed for Adelaide this afternoon ahead of their round 6 clash against Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday night. The two sides recently met in Adelaide in round one of the Hyundai A-League, with the points being shared after a nil all draw.

Newcastle Jets goalkeeper Ben Kennedy who has been in career best form, will again take his position between the posts. At only 23 years of age Kennedy is still considered to be young as goal keepers go, but his current form indicates he has reached a new level this season and the youngster is glowing with confidence.

When asked what he attributes his current good form to, Kennedy stated, “I felt I ended last year on a positive note and I worked hard during the pre season. I feel my form this season is showing that hard work is paying off”.

Newcastle Jets supporters recall Ben Kennedy-s final series match against the Gold Coast at the end of last season, which the Jets won after a penalty shoot out. Of that match Kennedy states, “The Gold Coast game is probably one of the best games of my career, that was a foundation for me and I am just looking to improve each week. I feel that each week I am getting more confident and I think that is showing in the way I have been playing”.

However, Kennedy does not attribute his good form solely to himself. In relation to the defensive combination he has with Ljubo Milicevic and Nikolai Topor-Stanley he states “We have all got to know each other-s games now, we have been together for over a year so I think that is a major part. We all know what our strengths and weaknesses are so I think that-s helped”.

Ben Kennedy knows that it is only a matter of time before the Newcastle Jets start to string a few wins together and concludes that his good form can be attributed to the entire team. “It-s not just one or two blokes, but the whole team. We are all defending well and now we just need to score a few more goals”.
