Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said the Club was delighted to have secured the services of two homegrown talents for a further 12 months.

“It-s great news for the Jets to have re-signed two Newcastle products in Taylor and Andrew,” Middleby said.

“We believe both players have a lot to offer the Club and we-re looking forward to seeing them continue their progression over the coming seasons.”

After becoming one of the first graduates of the Newcastle Jets youth team to secure a first team contract, Regan has made 39 Hyundai A-League appearances for the Jets since making his debut in Round 10 of the 2010/11 season.

The 24-year-old central defender won Men of Football-s prestigious Ray Baartz Medal for his consistent performances for the Jets during their 2011/12 campaign.

“I love playing for the Jets and I-ve never wanted to leave this Club,” Regan said.

“Extending my contract for another year gives me that little bit of security and allows me to concentrate solely on football.

“This year I know I have to step up and be more of a leader in this squad and that-s something I-ve been trying to do throughout the pre-season.

“I plan on having a big season and hopefully as a team and as a Club we can really start moving forward, because I think there is a lot of potential here to do that.”

Hoole made his Hyundai A-League debut for the Jets against Brisbane Roar in Round 16 last season and signed his first professional contract with the Club a week later.

The 19-year-old went on to play eight matches for the Jets during the 2012/13 campaign, before earning a call-up to the Young Socceroos’ squad for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

The Broadmeadow Magic junior was then selected by Socceroos head coach Holger Osieck to take part in an Australian national team training camp in the lead up to the EAFF East Asian Cup tournament.

“To sign my first professional contract with the Jets was an honour, so to get an extension for another season is a big thrill and something I-m very pleased about,” Hoole said.

“I-m very grateful to Gary (van Egmond) and the rest of the coaching staff and the Club for showing faith in me.

“It-s great knowing I-ll be here for another season, but I can-t afford to rest on my laurels.

“Now it-s up to me to repay the faith the Club has shown in me by building on what I did towards the end of last season.”

Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said he was excited to have the opportunity to continue working with Regan and Hoole.

“It is an important season for both of them,” van Egmond explained.

“Andrew-s rise has been quite rapid and he obviously has a lot of potential, but he-s still finding his feet in senior football to a degree, so it-s important we help him to develop in that sense.

“Taylor is looking to stamp his authority at the back and he brings enthusiasm and leadership in that department, which is very important.

“It-s always good to have players from the local area coming through and playing for the Jets.

“I think that-s very important for the Club and shows young Novocastrians that there is an opportunity for them to come through the ranks and play for the Jets at A-League level one day.”
