The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have named an extended 20-man squad for Saturday-s Round 9 match against Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.
The only change to the extended squad picked for last week-s clash with Melbourne Heart is the addition of goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski who joins Matt Nash and Jack Duncan as the other shot-stoppers named.
Forward Adam Taggart is unavailable for selection after he was chosen in Holger Osieck-s final 20-man Socceroos squad for next week-s East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) East Asian Cup 2013 qualifying tournament.
Ben Kantarovski (knee), Ben Kennedy (knee) and Mark Birighitti (cheekbone) will miss the match as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.
Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said he expected to field a similar match-day line-up to the one that drew with Melbourne Heart 3-3 at AAMI Park last weekend.
“I don-t think there will be too much of a difference from last week-s game,” van Egmond said.
“We just have to ensure that what we-ve been working on we put into practice on the weekend against Brisbane.
“That will happen a bit better now with the added continuity and stability of the group, with the fact that we-ve got everyone back from the Young Socceroos.
“We-ve also got some long-term injuries, but that gives other players an opportunity to establish themselves within the squad.”
