A 0-0 draw on Monday with Adelaide has situated the Jets on the middle of the Westfield W-League ladder and after shaking off the nerves of the season opener, the Jets are ready to take on Perth with ever increasing confidence heading into Round 2.
“From now on I think we know that the tempo of play we need to play at is obviously a little bit quicker than we did,” said Captain Hayley Crawford.
“If we can pick up where we left off from the Adelaide game, we-ll be fine for the next one.”
While Perth will be looking to turn their season opening loss around this weekend at home, Newcastle remain unfazed by the heightened importance of the match and according to Assistant Coach, Andre Gumprecht, preparation has gone on just the same in the Jets camp despite the short period between games.
“They (Perth) are coming off a loss and obviously they need to do their homework and they will do, but we aren-t really bothered because we look at our team,
“We-re focussing on our team, we know what our team can do and we-re trying to get the best out of our team so we are prepared and putting this into context to get our team to win this game,” he said.
The Jets will be looking to bring home the three points against Perth to gain momentum ahead of their first home game at Energy Australia Stadium on October 17 against Sydney FC.
The Round 2 clash between the Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory will be telecast live on ABC1 on Saturday October 10, with a local kickoff 12:00pm and AEDT kickoff of 3:00pm.
