The Westfield W-League Newcastle Jets swapped boots for stilettos and showed a more glamorous side on Tuesday at a Melbourne Cup Luncheon at Newcastle Jockey Club.
Following a generous invitation from the Newcastle Jockey Club, the Jets players took the opportunity to relax after their weekend loss in Melbourne before preparations for their Round 6 home game against Adelaide at Wanderers Oval.
The Jets girls assisted in the judging of fashions on the field, as well as showing their own style off the football field.
Apart from the usual race day festivities, Jets Vice Captain Amber Neilson was interviewed by the NEWFM breakfast team, Meryl and Steve about their upcoming game against Adelaide.
After a difficult start to the season, the partying on Melbourne Cup Day came as a welcome distraction for the side.
The relaxation paid off when the Jets claimed their first point at home with a 3-3 draw against Adelaide on Saturday to build momentum in preparation of facing one of the top sides of the Westfield W-League in Round 7.
The team will now travel to Seymour Shaw on Saturday 14th November where their opponents will be Sydney FC, kicking off at 4pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.
