Newcastle Jets Executive Director Maurice Bisetto said:
“We understand it is very frustrating for our members and supporters that we are moving another game because the playing surface at No.2 Sportsground is not up to the standard required from a competition and PFA perspective.
“It is also disappointing that our women’s team have been unable to train at No.2 Sportsground for similar reasons despite having an agreement in place with Newcastle Council.
“I want to thank Maitland City Council for the continued support of the Newcastle Jets and for being so accommodating to allow the fixture to be moved to the Maitland Sportsground at such short notice.
“We had nearly 3,000 fans attend our home opener at Cessnock last weekend. There was excellent energy and atmosphere there and the team showed what they’re about in the second half so I am calling on all football fans in Newcastle and the Hunter to get around our club and our women’s team at Maitland.”
The Newcastle Jets match against Adelaide United in South Australia has also been moved to ServiceFM Stadium on Sunday 8th December at 5.30 pm AEDT.
