Jets duo Libby Sharpe and Kirstyn Pearce made a special appearance at St James Primary School Kotara for their Boys Education Day held earlier this week.
Jets duo Libby Sharpe and Kirstyn Pearce made a special appearance at St James Primary School Kotara for their Boys Education Day held earlier this week.
Included in the day-s proceedings was a talk aimed at the school-s male students, held by Grahame Jennings.
During his educational talk, Jennings outlined that strength, especially in sport, is not a gender restriction only for boys and attempted to dispel myths regarding masculinity.
Sharpe and Pearce joined Hyundai A-League Newcastle Jets player Jason Hoffman, to answer questions and later sign autographs for the boys in attendance.
Jennings was pleased to invite the Jets girls along to participate in the day and praises their maturity and ability to captivate their young audience.
“The girls were absolutely fantastic! I was so impressed as to how mature and insightful the girls were in their comments and answers to questions,” he said.
“The girls, although on a busy time schedule, were never rushed and fitted in with whatever had to be done and to me, they were a perfect example of professional football players who could be held as role models for younger children,” Jennings concluded.
The girls will join their male counterparts again this Sunday, when the Westfield W-League Newcastle Jets take on Canberra United ahead of the Hyundai A-League Newcastle Jets- clash with Wellington Phoenix in a double header at EnergyAustralia Stadium. The Westfield W-League match kicks off at 2:15pm and tickets can be purchased at the gate.
