Francis Jeffers is hoping to make a home game return to the Jets on Saturday afternoon.
After receiving the good news yesterday that his visa has been issued, English striker Francis Jeffers looks forward to making his return on Saturday afternoon when the Jets take on Perth Glory at Ausgrid Stadium.
“I am looking forward to getting out there and playing,” Jefffers said on Wednesday after a solid training session at Ray Watt Oval.
“It will be good to start my time back here with a home game and in front of a home crowd.”
Since arriving in Australia, Jeffers has been adjusting well to his new home and is enjoying working with coach Gary van Egmond.
“Gary and I have had some good chats over the past couple of weeks,” Jeffers added.
“Training has been intense and Gary is working us very hard.
“I think it is good to be pushed and I am feeling a lot fitter than when I first arrived in Newcastle.”
Jeffers has been training hard on and off the field to make sure his body is right to play on Saturday.
“It will take some time for me to adjust to being here but in a couple of weeks I should be fine,” the 30-year old said.
“When you return to a club or join a new club it is important to get that first game behind you.
“I am hoping that this weekend I will get some football behind me.”
Since announcing Jeffers signing, Members and fans have been excited to see him back in town, with the experienced goal scorer making a huge impact during his time with the Jets last season.
“I know the Members and fans are expecting me to do well,” Jeffers explained.
“When I run out for the Jets I won-t be lacking in commitment or effort and I think that combined with my ability should see me playing well.”
Jeffers has been welcomed to the club with open arms, and his teammates are eager to see him out on the paddock.
“I have a great relationship with the players and that was a big factor in me coming back to the Jets,” he said.
“I feel I have the support of the players and they certainly have my support.
“The lads are playing pretty well and hopefully I can fit in there and add a bit of experience and know-how to the team.”
