Perth Glory defeated the Newcastle Jets 3-2 courtesy of a late goal from McKenna
The Team was able to put early pressure on the Perth backline, eventually being rewarded in the 16th minute. Ayres and Hoban pressed well, winning the ball before Hoban drove into the box, firing at goal. Her effort hit the post, but Dundas was able to finish off the rebound.
Glory found an equaliser right before half-time, as a wayward back-pass found it’s way to Hollar, who was able to lob the stranded Ritchie.
Melina Ayres was able to win back the lead with a spectacular acrobatic effort. Sophie Hoban tore through the Perth defence, before finding Lauren Allan out wide. Lauren swung a cross into the box, with Melina storming her way onto it, smashing it past the keeper with an outstanding volleyed ‘scissor kick’
The lead didn’t last long, with Perth equalising through Westaway, before McKenna found the winner in the 85th minute, as her deflected strike nestled into the back of the net.
The team will be back in action on Friday the 13th of March against Sydney FC at No. 2 Sportsground. Tickets can be purchased HERE
