Glen Moss and Britt Eckerstrom are the Members Players of the Year

Glen Moss and Britt Eckerstrom are the Members Players of the Year

The votes are in, and your Members Players of the Year for both the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League have been selected!

A pair of custodians who earned plaudits every step of the way, Glen Moss and Britt Eckerstrom were instrumental in both our men’s and women’s seasons.

Read a little more about the award winners and the stunning campaigns which they enjoyed.

Glen Moss

With 22 appearances and six clean sheets under his belt in the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season, Glen Moss is a worthy winner of the prestigious Members award.

The goalkeeper was a key cog in the Jets wheel throughout the 2018/19 campaign, earning the number one jersey following the departure of Jack Duncan in the pre-season

Along with fellow experienced heads, Nigel Boogaard and Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Moss has been vital at the heart of defence for Newcastle.

His form was as consistent as anyone’s but there were also games where the shot-stopper stood taller than the rest – Moss’ performances against Wellington Phoenix in Round 18 and Melbourne Victory in Round 21 in particular.

In a further gong for the goalkeeper, he’s also taken home the Community Player of the Year award for his dedication to and involvement with the development of the next generation of footballers progressing through the Jets ranks.

Britt Eckerstrom

Britt Eckerstrom played every minute of every match for the Newcastle Jets in the Westfield W-League this season, and was enormous.

The American goalkeeper kept just two clean sheets in her 12 appearances throughout the Westfield W-League 2018/19 campaign, but it wasn’t due to a lack of trying.

She made a league-high 61 saves – a touch over five a games – and it’s ten more than the next-best on that particular list.

Members and fans will remember her stunning performance against Melbourne City back in Round 6, where she pulled off a whopping seven saves including the Save of the Round.

Eckerstrom’s athleticism and determination impressed Jets fans and spurred on her teammates, with the keeper leading by example at every turn.
