Signing a new two-year contract on Monday, midfielder Ruben Zadkovich said he is excited for what the future holds at the Newcastle Jets.
“I have really enjoyed my time here, the players, coaching staff and people,” he said.
“The Members and supporters turn up to the stadium and really get behind us and that is a massive thing for me.
“I felt this was the best decision at this stage of my career and to have a leadership role with this young squad played a big part in my decision to stay.”

“Being captain is a privilege and it is a really nice feeling to lead a team out and I want to do my best for our players,” Zadkovich said.
“The attitude of the young players we have is first class and makes my job pretty easy.
“There are many qualities that make a good leader and I would like to embrace them all.
“And if I can nurture their careers and encourage and inspire them while maintaining my own form, then that is a job well done.”
With Jobe Wheelhouse parting ways with the Club last week, Zadkovich said it is up to the senior players to step up and look after the young squad.
“We have a few leaders including myself who have given pep talks all year and that won-t change now Jobe has gone,” he explained.
“When he was here and designated captain he did a great job, make no mistake about that.”
