A Lachlan Bayliss double, as well as goals to Lachlan Rose and Clayton Taylor secure a fifth win in a row for the Newcastle Jets
The Jets opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes, as Clayton Taylor was taken down inside the box by Bouzanis. A penalty was awarded, which Lachlan Rose stepped up and confidently smashed into the back of the net.
The Jets continued to control the game, with Will Dobson coming close to adding a second, forcing Bouzanis into a good save. The Jets would hold their lead at 1-0 going into the break.
Clayton Taylor was able to give the Jets some breathing room, scoring to make it 2-0. Eli Adams darted in behind the Brisbane defence, before firing a ball across the box to Taylor, who was able to finish into the empty net.
Roar would grab a foothold in the game ten minutes later, as Valkanis headed home from a set piece. The Jets were quick to restore their two goal lead, with Bayliss helping to pinch a ball from the Roar back-line before going on to finish a nice team move.
Things went from bad to worse for Brisbane, as Christopher Long was sent off for two bookable offences right before the 90 minute mark. Lachlan Bayliss would score again just two minutes later to bring up the full time result at 4-1.
On the full time whistle, the 12,000+ strong crowd erupted in applause, as the Jets sealed a five game winning streak. The Jets are away to Adelaide next week, with the squad not returning to Newcastle until February 22nd, when they take on Macarthur FC.
