Five Jets players have been selected to take part in next week’s Young Socceroos training camp on the Central Coast.
The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have had five of the Club-s players selected to take part in next week-s Young Socceroos training camp on the Central Coast.
Josh Brillante, Connor Chapman, Jack Duncan, Andrew Hoole and Adam Taggart were all included in coach Paul Okon-s 24-man squad for the five-day camp running from April 21 to April 25.
The Jets have the equal-highest representation of any A-League Club in what is purely an Australian-based squad. Melbourne Victory also had five players named.
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby congratulated the Club-s players on their selection and wished them all the best for the upcoming camp.
“It-s great that the young talent we have at the Jets has been recognised and given the opportunity to take part in a national team camp,” Middleby said.
“These boys now have a fantastic chance to put their hand up and try to earn a spot in the squad that will eventually go to the World Cup in Turkey.
“Playing in an Under 20 World Cup is a an unbelievable experience for any young footballer and I-m sure our boys will be trying to do everything in their power to ensure they get there.”
Okon will be using this training camp as the first part of his final selection phase for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013.
“This is our first camp together since the AFC U-19 Championships last November and our first since the draw for the World Cup was made last month,” said Okon.
“There are some new faces in this squad that we will have the opportunity to experience the national team set-up for the first time as well
“The competition for places in the final World Cup squad will be high and we need the players to show themselves in these camps.”
