Executive Chairman’s open letter to Jets supporters

Newcastle Jets Executive Chairman, Shane Mattiske has issued the following letter to supporters.

Dear Newcastle Jets members and supporters,

I’d like to provide a quick update on several exciting changes taking place throughout the Club.

The Jets are entering an important new phase and we are making some strong progress against our strategic plans.

It has been great to welcome Arthur Papas as our new Manager for the A-League team and to confirm the extension of Ash Wilson as our W-League Coach.

We’ve also welcomed a host of new and experienced faces into our football structure, complimenting the existing staff.

In addition to the on-field announcements, the next month will see a number of significant changes off-field as well;

  • We are well advanced on a new major sponsor for the A-League and W-League teams,
  • We are preparing for a significant change in the way  we present the Club and are developing a new playing kit for 2021/22,
  • Very soon, we will be launching our new membership program for 2021/22,
  • There will be further investment in expanding our Community Clinic programs throughout the region

In establishing a strong platform for success, we have a new-look roster of players which continues to be assembled.

Our football team has gone through a significant change in preparation for the coming season and this has come through a lot of hard work.

To this end, I’d like to acknowledge the efforts Joel Griffiths has made in assisting to prepare the Club for this season and the commitment he’s made over many seasons to the same.

We wish Joel every success in the next stage of his career.  He leaves the Jets as a well-respected member of our staff and he will always be a club legend.

We’re working to build a strong administration and have this week added former NSW Cricket Senior Exec, Ivan Spyrdz In the position of Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer and earlier this month had added Craig Deans into the role of General Manager of Football.

It is truly an exciting period for the Club and wonderful time to be a Jets member or supporter.

I thank you for your commitment to and support of this great Club.

We are making strong progress and I look forward to standing alongside you as we enjoy the 2021/22 season.

Shane Mattiske.
