Newcastle recruit Mitch Cooper says the fact he is already familiar with a number of Jets players will help him to settle in.
The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets- latest signing Mitch Cooper says the fact he is already familiar with a number of Jets players will help him to settle in to life in Newcastle.
The 17-year-old is the latest Jets recruit who has represented Australia at underage level in recent times.
Having already played with the likes of James Brown and Joshua Brillante at Gold Coast United as well as Connor Chapman and Mitchell Oxborrow with the Australain under 17-s, Cooper is confident his transition to the Jets will be a smooth one.
“I guess every young player who comes to a new club will feel a lot more comfortable around younger players,” he said.
“You try and fit in and generally to start with it-s easier talking to other young players.”
The promising midfielder said he hoped to get Jets Members and supporters on the edge of their seats with some attacking football next season.
“Hopefully I can be an exciting player for the fans and work as a bit of a playmaker as well,” he said.
“I just want to do my best whatever position Gary wants me to play, hopefully I can fulfil that role and be happy just to be here.”
Cooper, who has previously worked with Jets head coach Gary van Egmond, said he was looking forward to adapting to Newcastle-s style of play.
“I like the system Gary is starting to bring into the Jets and I-m sure I can fit into my role,” he said.
“With a new group of boys hopefully we can start something new and I-ll be a part of it as well.”
