The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the re-signing of Young Matildas defender Claudia Cicco for the next two seasons.
The defender joined the Club last season and has made 18 appearances for the Jets. Cicco was also rewarded for her form last season when she was selected for the Young Matildas squad for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Uzbekistan.
Cicco is excited to be returning to the Jets for another two seasons.
“I’m really excited and grateful to re-sign with the Jets again. I love Newcastle and am looking forward to the growth of the Club. I can’t wait to get back into training, to improve each day under Ryan Campbell’s guidance. Newcastle has become my home away from home and I love playing for our passionate fans.”
Newcastle Jets Coach Ryan Campbell said.
“Re-signing Claudia was a key goal of mine in order to continue what we have been building from last season. Her pace and defensive ability are second to none and she is developing nicely as an attacking fullback. I am looking forward to working more with Claudia to help her continue to become an even more effective player.
Claudia Cicco joins Cassidy Davis, Melina Ayres, Sarina Bolden, Lauren Allan and Emma Dundas who are contracted to the Newcastle Jets in 2024/25.
Campbell also added.
“With the signings we have made so far as well the players who have continued on from last season, I’m excited to get started with pre-season which will be around the corner soon.”
