Players from the Newcastle Jets and the Newcastle Knights visited the John Hunter Children-s Hospital to spread some Christmas cheer and visit the Starlight Room and children-s wards.

Jarrod Mullen, Timana Tahu, Kade Snowdon from the Knights and Michael Bridges, Marco Jesic, Mark Birighitti from the Jets all spent time with the kids, handing out merchandise and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

The John Hunter Children-s Hospital Christmas Party is a big day in the lives of those who work and are treated at the hospital. Many volunteers help coordinate the event and distribute the gifts donated by the Newcastle community.

“Its easy for us to take time out and pop into the hospital to wish everyone Merry Christmas,” Michael Bridges said.

“Some of these families are down on their luck and anything we can do to help we are happy to do.”

While Jarrod Mullen added, “Its great to get up to the hospital and spend some time with the kids, some of them may have to stay here over Christmas so hopefully fun days like today might make that a little bit easier.”

The Newcastle Knights were also able to make a donation to the hospital, thanks to their sponsor Sportsbet, and Jarrod Mullen-s victory in the Spring Carnival betting competition.
