Chris Bowling to depart the Jets

The Newcastle Jets can confirm the departure of goalkeeper coach Chris Bowling who has decided to pursue another opportunity. The Club would like to thank “Bowlo” for his service over the last 12 years.

Newcastle Jets CEO Shane Mattiske said.

“Chris has given his all to this Club over a period of twelve years and is a true member of the Jets family. We ultimately respect his wishes to seek out some new experiences and wish his well.

With Chris’s departure, we can now provide another well regarded Coach in our system with the opportunity to move into the A League Men’s program and are pleased to welcome Andrew ‘Goldie’ Goldman into our elite Men’s program. Andrew has been heavily involved in the development of our youth keepers in the Club including directly coaching Jordan Bayliss and, recently crowned FNSW League2 Keeper of the Year, Zac Bowling.  Both of these young keepers are now part of our elite Men’s squad.

With Andrew’s shift we will now look to a suitable replacement within our Women’s program.”

Newcastle Jets legend Jason Hoffman said.

“I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Bowlo for many years now.

He has been an invaluable asset to our football department and will be greatly missed by myself and the entire football club.

We have been through many highs and lows together during our time at the football club, but the one thing we had the luxury of sharing, is an unwavering commitment to our local home of football here within the Jets.

Bowlo embodied this passion in all that he committed to over the years, and I have been grateful to share this with him for so long.

I wish him all the best on his next stage of development in a new environment and he will always be a Newcastle Jet for me.”
