Jets midfielder Zenon Caravella has re-signed with the Club, keeping him at Newcastle until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets midfielder Zenon Caravella has signed a one-year contract extension with the Club, keeping him at Newcastle until the end of the 2014/15 season.

After joining the Jets from Adelaide United towards the back end of the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season, Caravella had an immediate impact at the Club, making eight appearances.

The Jets suffered only two losses in matches Caravella played in, both of those coming at the hands of eventual Premiers Plate winners Western Sydney Wanderers.

Caravella said he was pleased to have secured his future with the Jets on the eve of the Club-s season opener against Sydney FC at Allianz Satdium.

“I feel very comfortable with where I am at the moment with my football and my life outside of the game,” Caravella said.

“The most important thing for anyone in any job they have is to be happy and comfortable in their work environment and I-m very happy in Newcastle.

“I-m just looking forward to being able to concentrate solely on the season ahead and doing my best for the team and the Club.”

Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said the Jets were delighted to have secured the services of Caravella for another season.

“It-s great to have Zenon here for another year,” van Egmond said.

“As we-ve all seen, his contribution on the field is fantastic and the contribution he makes off the field and the guidance he gives some of the younger players is great as well.

“He reads the game extremely well, he-s a very hard worker, he-s very popular with the other players and he-s done exceptionally well since he joined the Club.”

Caravella is expected to feature prominently when the Newcastle Jets kick-off the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season against Sydney FC in the first ever Harvey Norman Friday Night Football match broadcast live on free-to-air TV on SBS2 this Friday.
