Michael Bridges today discussed his return to the football field.
Today the Newcastle Jets made the exciting announcement they have signed Michael Bridges, another Englishman, back to the Club for the rest of the 2011/12 season.
Sitting alongside coach Gary van Egmond at Jets headquarters earlier today, Bridges said his body is up to the challenge to return for the season and he just can-t wait to get back out there.
“When you realise how much you want something, you become more hungry,” Bridges said.
“I was able to get back out with the boys and train, eight or nine weeks ago.
“As the days and weeks went by at training I realised I still have something to offer.”
Bridges- desire to get back out on the pitch become one thing, he also had to prove to van Egmond that he would be beneficial to the team.
“Michael knows his body better than anyone and he has stated and it is evident on the training field that he is in the best shape since arriving in Australia,” van Egmond explained.
“As far as quality is concerned we all know how good a footballer he is and how smart he is so it was a no-brainer.
“What he brings on and off the field in experience and knowledge, that will be invaluable to our other players.”
Bridges said be is thankful to van Egmond and the Club for repaying his hard work in the best way possible: offering him a spot in the squad.
“I love being back on the park again and I am feeling brilliant,” the returning striker said.
“I am like a teenager again an as I said, when something is taken away from you, you want to grab it so badly.
“I am grateful I have been given the opportunity to do so.”
