Matt Jurman: The Journey So Far
What a ride it’s been for Matt Jurman. It’s one that’s taken him all the way to the top of Australian football, to championships and appearances in green and gold, and now he’s found himself in Newcastle Jets colours for the first time. This is Matt’s journey so far. THE BEGINNING It started at Wollongong where Matt Jurman grew up, before moving to the western suburbs of Sydney, graduating high school and heading to the AIS.

Jets secure Kosta Grozos
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of young midfielder Kosta Grozos for the upcoming A-League Season. The Australian U-20’s representative officially joins the Club from Western Sydney Wanderers after successfully trialling throughout the pre-season. The 21-year-old has already played seven games in the A-League at his former club and before that, was highly successful in the youth divisions winning the Wanderers’ NPL Player of the Year award and helping the side win the Y-League in 2018.

Whether it’s in Adelaide, Melbourne, or the Hunter, Valentino Yuel has shown his fighting spirit wherever he’s played - both in matches, and on the training field. This season sees a host of new players vying for attacking positions with many of them coming from overseas providing one of the biggest challenges he’s come across in his football career.

O’Doherty: “We are each other’s families”
The current lockdown and restrictions have affected all households and families throughout the region and the Newcastle Jets have been no different. The A-League squad has been working hard on the field, putting in the work under new Manager, Arthur Papas, to make sure they’re more than ready for the upcoming season. The same effort has been demonstrated off the field too, as the team have been doing their best to gel with one another in a time of such uncertainty and isolation.

Motivation for success brings Murnane back to Australia
He’s only been in Newcastle for just over two weeks, but already Dylan Murnane can see evidence that this year can be a successful one. The 26-year-old has spent the past five years plying his trade in Europe, both in Norway and Finland, where he made 60 appearances for IFK Mariehamn, 29 for Kongsvinger and eight for the defending Finnish champions, Helsinki. However, the former Melbournian has come back to Australia not just to play, but to win.

Jets secure exciting Greek attacker Savvas Siatravanis
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Savvas Siatravanis for the upcoming A-League Season. Having spent the bulk of his career in his homeland of Greece, the attacker has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Club that will see him with the club until the conclusion of the 2021/22 season. Siatravanis is a great addition to the Jets squad and provides another element in attack with his excellent positional play and technical ability set to cause headaches for opposition defences.

Jets farewell offices at Transgrid and Ray Watt Oval
Newcastle Jets have waved goodbye to their former headquarters at Transgrid offices and Ray Watt Oval last week after spending the last four years at the location. While the A-League squad continue to prepare for their upcoming season, the Jets administration staff are working from home due to the current COVID lockdown restrictions until moving into a new office space.

Jets secure exciting midfielder Lucy Johnson
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Lucy Johnson for the 2021/22 W-League season. The talented midfielder comes to Newcastle from South Melbourne FC and is ready to take the next step in her career as she joins the W-League ranks for the first time. “I am looking forward to the W-League environment, surrounded by quality players and coaches to compliment my game,” Johnson said. “I am excited for the new challenges that come with playing at a higher level”.

Jemma House extends Jets contract
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce striker Jemma House has re-signed with the Club for the 2021/22 W-League season. Newcastle local, Jemma House, has re-signed for another season with the Newcastle Jets and is determined to make the most of her opportunity and force her way into Ash Wilson’s starting side. “Re-signing for the Jets is very exciting. Getting to play in my hometown again is something pretty special” House said.

Defender Tiana Jaber re-signs with Jets
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce defender Tiana Jaber has re-signed with the Club for the 2021/22 W-League season. The speedy defender has re-signed on for another season with the Newcastle Jets and will be looking to make the most of her opportunity and secure a first-team position. “I want to learn and improve my game, establishing myself as a strong defender but dangerous in attack, this season I’m fighting to be in the starting XI,” Jaber said.
