Since the inception of the league in 2008, the goal has been goals. And lots of them. Many players have arrived to the town and shone in that area, however there’s been even more local women who have thrived in front of goal. Here at the Jets, we love goals. As fans we love seeing them, and the players love scoring them. Over our Isuzu UTE A-League history, there’s been plenty of players that have excelled in that area and made us cheer and jump for joy. We went back through the list to find and highlight the ten men with the best goalscoring stats.   #10. Mark Bridge – 13 goals The 2008 Grand Final hero spent three seasons at the Club, debuting at just 20 years old, and in that time was a strike weapon up top.

Inside the Keepers’ Union: Duncan enjoying mentor role

Since his arrival to the Club back in 2010, goalkeeper Jack Duncan has played various roles as a Jet between the sticks, but for one of the first times in his career, he’s now the veteran leading and mentoring a very young group. Alongside youngsters Noah James and Michael Weier, Duncan is competing each day at training knowing that his two fellow glovemen are biting at the bit to become the #1 keeper. The competition is healthy though as all three are pushing one another forward with the help of goalkeeper coach Chris Bowling.

Olivier Boumal: The Journey So Far

From Cameroon to France, from Greece to Japan, Olivier Boumal’s career has taken him all across the world and now he’s a Newcastle Jet. It’s been a long and successful road for the 31-year-old attacker, but he’s got no plans of slowing up. This is his journey so far.   THE BEGINNING Olivier was born in the major city of Cameroon, Douala, where he also began his footballing career. At the age of 16, he moved to Paris, France to play with CFF Paris, and it wasn’t long before a bigger club, AS Saint-Etienne, noticed him.

Arqués focused on success under Papas

He’s the mystery ‘foreign midfielder’ Newcastle Jets fans have been waiting to see, and Mario Arqués is determined to repay the faith shown in him with plenty of hard work once he’s out of quarantine. The Spaniard has spent time playing all around the world such as in Ukraine, India and Malaysia, however the majority of his career has been played in his home country where he was part of the clubs Villarreal, Valencia and Elche FC.

Spanish midfielder Mario Arqués joins Jets

Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Spanish midfielder Mario Arqués for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season. Arqués joins the Club having spent the majority of his career playing in Spain, and more recently, the Ukraine Premier League, Indian Super League and Malaysian Premier League. The 29-year-old midfielder was a product of the famous Villarreal youth academy and featured for Elche in the La Liga while also being a consistent feature for the Segunda B sides of Valencia and Sporting Gijon.

Eli Babalj signs with Jets

Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of former Socceroo Eli Babalj for the upcoming 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League season. Babalj links up with the Club having been training with the first team since the start of pre-season. The 29-year-old forward has made two appearances for the Socceroos and has featured for top European sides such as Red Star Belgrade and AZ Alkmaar in addition to various stints in the Isuzu UTE A-League.
