7th Heaven as James Secures Famous Win

Noah James headlined a strong defensive performance for the Jets as they make it seven games without a loss

City dominated the fixture, but they were unable to beat Noah James, who made several eye-catching saves as the Jets defeated Melbourne City at AAMI Park.

The Jets created chances early in the match, with Eli Adams bursting through the middle of the pitch before releasing Clayton Taylor down the left-wing, who was unable to find any of his teammates with his cross as City were able to clear.

The game was delayed for an hour in the 14th minute, as there was lightning in the area. Once the game resumed, City took control. Steven Ugarkovic was able to get past the jets defence before firing at James, who smothered the shot.

Just minutes later, Noah was called into action again, this time denying Caputo, who took aim from the edge of the box. Following the halftime break, City turned it up to another level, forcing the Jets deeper and deeper into their own half as they chased a goal.

Phil Cancar made a brilliant goal-line block, as he stuck his chest in the way of the ball to deny City a goal from their only shot that managed to beat James. Within two minutes, Lachlan Rose flipped the game on its head as he scored with what would turn out to be the Jets only shot on target for the day.

Natta won the ball, before finding Timmins, who released Clayton Taylor. Clayton took the ball forward, before switching the ball out to Aquilina. He took a touch, before fizzing a ball into the feet of Lachie Rose. Rose turned his man in the box, before firing with his left past the outstretched Beach.

Yet again, City kept pushing and probing for a goal, but the entire Jets backline defended bravely, with Cancar and Wilmering in particular defending extremely well, but it was Noah James who took the player of the match award. Noah made eight highly impressive saves which helped the Jets secure the 1-0 result.
