The Newcastle Jets’ academy system is paving the way for the next generation of footballers, with their continued development being a critical concern for the club going forward.
It is the role of the Newcastle Jets coaching staff, along with Technical Director, Kew Jaliens that the Club enables a pathway for upcoming players.
Having spent four years in the Academy system before taking control of the Youth team, Coach Daniel McBreen has picked out some of standout performers to keep an eye on.
Lachlan West
Currently in the U19 set up, West is deployed predominantly in a midfield role and operates as a box-to-box player.
“Lachlan is strong on the ball and can read the game well,” McBreen said.
“In training he works really hard and when he is on the pitch, he gives it his all.”
Adam Zervas
Zervas is a midfield player and is presently in the Newcastle Jets’ youth team.
Throughout this season, Zervas has shown his ability in both attacking and defensive roles.
“Adam has great ball control and can pick a pass to get the team moving forward,” McBreen said.
“I think has really good qualities and he just needs to keep pushing, so that he can take his game to the next level.”
Isaac Collins
Collins plays as an attacker in the U17 team and is showing great signs in his progression.
“Isaac is young talent, and he works hard for the team,” McBreen said.
“He has skill with the ball and pushes the team forward in transition.”
