Newcastle Jets have been on a roll of late but Coach Craig Deans insists the squad aren’t getting ahead of themselves.
Without a loss in their last five outings and a continued run of good performances, coach Deans has guided the Club to sixth place on the A-League table.
Speaking after an impressive 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory, the mentor declared the season is still early and any talk of finals is premature.
“The A-League, since it started has been tight,” he said.

“You lose three, you go to the bottom three, you win three, you go to the top three. That’s just the way the league is.
“So, I definitely won’t allow anyone to get carried away by the position we’re in now because if you do, it can all change very quickly”.
While the Jets dropped the opening four games of the season, the team was playing quality football.
Having found consistency in their performances and with results following, Deans said the squad is enjoying the rewards of their hard work and patience.
“Had a few hiccups early season where performances were really good just key moments there was a bit of bad luck or from our own doing, not defending well in key moments,” he said.
“Credit to the players their work ethic and belief in training week in week out, that what we were doing was working. It has proven to come good and we are now playing the way we want to play.”
