Gary van Egmond will wait until Friday morning to finalise his week 14 squad. With such a short turn around between games, van Egmond is expected to make some changes to this week-s line-up being that Saturday-s game against the Victory in Melbourne will be the Jets third in seven days.

“We will be dictated by how well the players pull up after Wednesday night-s win and hopefully we get a few of our soldiers back,” van Egmond said.

“I will probably look to start Tiago (Calvano) and Labinot (Haliti) and we have some younger players like James Virgili and Marko Jesic and Mario Simic who are fresh.

“Labi gave us quite an injection of mobility and enthusiasm when he came off the bench on Wednesday night and at any given time he can do something special, create or score a goal.”

After a strong performance against Gold Coast, Ruben Zadkovich will be forced to sit out Saturday’s game after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season.

Francis Jeffers and Jobe Wheelhouse are unlikely to make to trip to Melbourne and Nikolai Topor-Stanley is doubtful after corking his thigh during the Jets 3-2 win over Gold Coast United.

“I give Nikolai a lot of credit for soldiering on during Wednesday night’s game and we will have to assess him before we travel on Friday,” van Egmond said.

“Melbourne are in the same boat as us having played three games in seven days and I think we are in a good position to win.

“We have tinkered with our system a little bit and I think that everyone is on the same page as far as where we want them to play and if we do that, work hard and stick together the result will come.”
