“My friends are here, my family is here and there is no where else I want to go so signing the extension is a bonus,” Regan said.

On Wednesday the Jets announced Taylor Regan has signed a one-year extension which will see the in-form defender remain a Newcastle Jet for at least another two seasons.

Regan, a Newcastle local, is excited about the prospect of remaining at a Club he describes as having a very bright future.

“I grew up wanting to play for this Club but now seeing what the Jets has become and the amount of talent that is around, I don-t want to go anywhere else in Australia,” the 24-year-old said.

“My friends are here, my family is here and there is no where else I want to go so signing the extension is a bonus.”

Regan has been one of the Jets shining stars this season and is currently leading the Men of League Player of the Year vote but his focus remains on winning the 3-points.

“I am only young and I have only played a handful of games, your form can change in one week so I am focusing on our Wellington game and hope we keep going the way we are.”

The Newcastle Jets meet Wellington Phoenix at Ausgrid Stadium on Friday night and Regan says the team are hoping to build on their recent form.

“We always struggle across the ditch and there is no hiding that but we are in Newcastle this time and it is a completely different story,” he explained.

“We don-t like to lose here and we try to make this place a fortress and I think that is what we have done this year.

“The 5-2 defeat was a little bit humiliating but the three points is what we need and it doesn-t matter how we get it or who we get it against.

“We have a pretty busy schedule starting with tomorrow night-s game and a win will be a great way to kick it off.”
