Newcastle Jets Youth missed the chance to consolidate their position on top of the FOXTEL National Youth League (Conference B) standings on Friday, falling 2-0 to Central Coast Mariners Youth at Magic Park in Broadmeadow.

The junior Jets created numerous good chances to score throughout the game, however could not convert their opportunities which included a second half penalty after the ball had ricocheted off the woodwork and striker Kristian Brymora was brought down while attempting to fire towards goal.

Mariners Youth hit the lead in the first half when Sean Pratt angled a strike beyond Jets custodian Pierce Clark.

The young Yellow and Navy doubled their advantage deep into the game when substitute Matthew Lee raced in on goal and managed to send a delicate finish over the advancing Clark and into the back of the net.

Jets Youth still lead Conference B of the FOXTEL NYL, however will likely need to win their remaining two games away to Sydney FC Youth (January 15) and FFA Centre of Excellence (January 21) if they’re to qualify for the FOXTEL NYL Grand Final against the winner of Conference A.
