Scott Neville says he is eager to make his return to action against his former club, Perth Glory, at nib Stadium on Saturday.
After two weeks on the sidelines, Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets defender Scott Neville says he is eager to make his return to action against his former club, Perth Glory, at nib Stadium on Saturday.
Neville missed the Jets- wins over Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory with a groin injury but said he is back to full fitness ahead of the Jets- clash with the Glory.
“I-m good to go. I got through the full week of training really well,” he said.
“The boys have worked hard during the week and we-re all looking forward to the game.
“I started the first two games and was pretty happy with how I played, but then I got an injury and a couple of other players came in and did well.
“That-s what the squad is for, if anyone goes down we have players that can fill in.
“Hopefully I can get back in and maintain my spot and play a few games.”
Neville said while the decision to leave the Glory after four seasons at the Club was a difficult one, he made the choice in order to further challenge himself.
“It was quite a tough decision because I-ve got a good relationship with the fans in Perth and lots of friends and family here and I really enjoy the place,” Neville said.
“I just felt I needed to get out of my comfort zone and test myself as a footballer and as a person by living away from friends and family and living for myself.
“I think it was a good move and I-m just looking forward to what the future holds really.
“I-ve got a few text messages (from former Perth teammates) here and there, but I-m just focusing on the game really and hopefully we can pick up the three points before we head home.”
As a result of his time spent with the Glory, Neville knows better than most the difficulties of travelling to and from Perth for A-League fixtures.
However, he was adamant that the travel factor won-t be an issue for the Jets come Saturday.
“A lot of people say that the travel is quite hard and that Newcastle don-t travel very well here, but I-m used to the travel with Perth and this is a completely new team,” he said.
“Hopefully that doesn-t affect us at all and we-re just here to pick up the points.”
