Both the Home Strip and Away Heritage Strip are available in men-s, ladies and kids sizes and feature lightweight material and mesh side panels to ensure a breathable and comfortable fit during the summer months while the Hyundai A-League competition is played.

Also, unique to both jerseys is the placement of a ‘three Jets- logo on the back collar for the first time.

The 2013/14 Home Strip retains the red and blue colours worn by the Jets at Hunter Stadium for the past two seasons, with a handful of new features.

As well as narrower red and blue stripes, the Home Strip also features a blue back panel for numbers and lettering.

Former Newcastle KB United stars Col Curran and Joe Senkalski teamed up with current Newcastle Jets players Ruben Zadkovich and Michael Bridges to launch the new strips.

Zadkovich said he was delighted with the look and feel of the new 2013/14 Home Strip.

“It-s really lightweight and fast and it looks sharp, so hopefully we can play the same way, fast and sharp,” Zadkovich said.

Senkalski was equally impressed, saying the the strip made the Jets instantly identifiable.

“I think the red and blue is a really good connection to the Newcastle team in our home town,” he said.

“There-s always a lot of red and blue in the stands and they-re a good couple of colours to follow.”

Zadkovich and Senkalski also laid their eyes on the fan-voted new 2013/14 Away Heritage strip for the first time.

The strip adopts the City of Newcastle-s official colours of emerald green and cinnamon brown, which were also worn by Newcastle KB United as the first Newcastle team to compete in the National Soccer League back in 1978.

“It-s just great to see the Members and supporters getting their votes through,” Zadkovich said.

“As players we-re stoked to be able to represent those fans and hopefully we see a lot of green jerseys in the crowd.

“When we wear it, I know we-ll wear it with pride. I think it-s nice that they-ve gone back to the old heritage colours, because some of the guys who played in that strip are legends of the game.

“Newcastle is a proud footballing region and we-re privileged and honoured to be the next generation coming through wearing those colours.”

As someone who donned the famous emerald green and cinnamon brown for Newcastle KB United, Senkalski was extremely pleased with the acknowledgment of the region-s football history in the form of the new 2013/14 Away Heritage strip.

“I-m very impressed with it, it-s a great light shirt and I love the colours,” Senkalski said.

‘It takes me back to the early 1980s and it really is a representation of Newcastle-s city colours, so I-d still be very proud to wear it.”
