The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the re-signing of exciting locals Lauren Allan and Lara Gooch.
Allan re-signs on a two-year deal while Gooch has committed to a one-year deal for the 2023/24 season.
Lauren Allan made her debut in 2019 for the Newcastle Jets and has made 51 appearances for the club scoring 11 goals. Allan’s path to the Jets came through the NNSW NPL where she played for Valentine and Adamstown after coming through the ranks at Kahibah as a local junior before impressing at New Lambton in first-grade where she was invited to trial at the Newcastle Jets in 2019.
The versatile attacker also took out the Jet’s golden boot and Cheryl Salisbury award at the club’s awards night at Modus in Merewether.
Allan is eager to build on her impressive 2022/23 season.
“I am looking forward to playing another season with the Newcastle Jets in my hometown and in front of my family and friends. I know I will learn a lot from Gary and can build on my game from last season to positively contribute to the team’s performance.”
Local junior Lara Gooch will be back in gold for the upcoming A-League Women’s season after making 13 appearances across her two seasons since progressing through the Newcastle Jets Academy, joining the Under 12’s in 2015 after playing her junior football for Warner’s Bay. Gooch has spent the current NNSW NPL season playing for Charlestown Azzuri in the NPL.
Gooch excited Jets fans with her speed and attacking threat as she caused havoc amongst opposition defences.
“I am excited for the season ahead after re-signing for the upcoming campaign. I am extremely grateful and humble to have the opportunity to play in front of my loved ones and represent the Jets. I am keen to put in the hard work and give my all for this season whilst playing good football and produce results for this team.”
