Newcastle Jets are excited to announce the signing of local junior Leia Puxty.
Puxty who plays in defence joins the Newcastle Jets from local NPL side Adamstown Rosebuds.
Jets Coach Ash Wilson is delighted to have secured Leia having watched her progress over the last few years.
“Leia is a promising young prospect. She has been on my radar for a while, after being a young standout in our Jets academy before continuing to build on these foundations in the local Premier League.
She has been a consistent and strong defender here and this has seen her gain opportunities within the future Matildas and under 20’s training camps. She has a fantastic work ethic, is determined, and has physical and technical characteristics that suit the way we want to play and will resonate with our community I have no doubt. I know she will make the most of this opportunity and look forward to seeing her grow in this environment.”
Puxty is eager to link up with her new teammates for the coming season.
“I’m really excited for my first year of A-League football and it’s even better that I’m playing for my local team.
I came through the Academy here and then played for the Rosebuds which I feel has helped me over the past three seasons develop further and I’m excited to wear the Jets colours again.
I’m excited to continue my development under the coaching staff and play with so many talented and experienced players. I’m looking to prove myself every week.”
