Richards and Emile Heskey had planned to catch up and it ended up being an impromptu chat with the team as they were finalising their preparations for the game.
Richards admitted to being a Liverpool supporter and with Heskey now at the Jets, has become a fan of the Club.
The pair exchanged jerseys and Richards watched the game from the coaches box.
