Australian U17 international Cameron Joice scored twice for Newcastle Jets Youth at the weekend however the young gun’s brace wasn’t enough to lift Clayton Zane’s charges to a win over Charlestown City Blues.
The Blues scored five at their home ground of Lisle Carr Oval in Whitebridge on Sunday in round 2 of the National Premier League (Northern New South Wales) to claim the contest 5-2.
The draw leaves Jets Youth with one point after their opening two games of NPL NNSW 2016.
In round 3 the junior Jets face a tricky trip to the table topping Edgeworth FC on Friday night.
The Eagles – featuring former Newcastle national league representative and Hyundai A-League Golden Boot Daniel McBreen – have secured two wins from two to start their campaign.
In round 1 Edgeworth FC toppled Lambton Jaffas away from home, before claiming a 2-0 win over Weston Workers Bears at the weekend.
Kick-off in first grade on Friday 22 April is at 8:30pm, with the club’s U18s taking on Edgeworth’s U22s at 6:45pm. The Jets’ U16s will take on Edgeworth U19s at 5pm.
