Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League coach Craig Deans is pleased to announce his first international marquee player to his 2016/17 squad, Chicago Red Stars forward Jennifer Hoy.
Hoy, 25, has been playing with the Red Stars for four years after she was drafted out of college in 2013.
Since her season with the Red Stars, Hoy has scored 13 goals and will be a great addition to the Newcastle Jets’ front third.
Hoy has never played out of the US before and is excited to get started with the Jets. She hopes she will bring maturity to the young side as well as help the Jets win the championship.
“My goals for the season are to grow my game, score goals and win a league championship!” Hoy said.
“I started following the team last season when I first heard Megan and Caprice were playing for Newcastle. I cannot wait to get started as I have only heard great things about the squad and Coach Deans.”
Deans believes that Hoy will be crucial in front of goal and is definitely the type of player that they need this year.
“We signed Jen because we struggled in front of goal last season and we need to be more effective this year. She is the player that will hopefully fit in well with the team and add a little bit of extra quality that we lacked last year,” Deans said.
“Jen was one of a number of quality players that became available in the off season and she was the one that showed the most interest and I thought would improve the team the most.”
“She is really keen to come out here and improve herself which is another reason I signed her. We are looking forward to getting her here and playing for Newcastle,” Deans concluded.
