Newcastle Jets W-League American imports, Tori Huster and Angela Salem attended the Saint Phillips Christian College football finals on Friday morning.

The girls were also joined by Newcastle Jets A-League players Michael Bridges, Sam Gallaway and Marko Jesic.

Huster and Salem awarded the winners of the day with a trophy and afterwards played a match against the winners alongside Bridges, Gallaway and Jesic. The students were then invited to meet the players and receive autographs and photos.

This was the first community event for the American W-League players with the morning of football proving to be a success that was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.

Female Participation Officer from Northern NSW Football, Nyssa Suchanow organised the school visit and was happy with how smoothly the morning ran and how welcoming the school was to the girls. Huster and Salem were taken on a tour of the school to get a feeling of the Australian school life.

Suchanow is eager to get the Newcastle Jets Women to as many community events as possible throughout the lead up to the Westfield W-League and throughout the season.

“We want to have as much of a community focus as possible for the girls to promote the game in a positive light,” Suchanow said.

With kick off for the Westfield W-League only a month away, preparations for the start of the season are in full swing with the girls training regularly.
