Newcastle Jets marquee striker Emile Heskey will miss Friday night-s crucial game against Perth Glory after succumbing to a suspected calf strain.

Club physiotherapist Robert Dingle confirmed Heskey is the third Jets player to be sidelined following last Wednesday’s game against Wellington.

“Soft tissue injuries, like Emile’s strained calf, are a bi-product of fatigue,” Dingle said.

“Emile got a cork in his calf in the Wellington game, add to that the travel, which have both contributed to the injury he sustained at a light training session on Monday.

“We obviously made the decision to rest him on the weekend to avoid injury, so it is particularly disappointing to lose Emile now.”

Heskey will have scans today and the Club expect to know more in the next day about how long he will be sidelined.
