“Whoever is scoring goals it doesn’t really matter as long as we are getting the points and moving up the table,” Brockie said.
Jets striker Jeremy Brockie, who scored two of the Jets three goals at Ausgrid Stadium on Wednesday night, hopes the team will take confidence from the win as they turn their attention to Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.
“It has been a few games without a win so it was good to be back in the winning circles,” Brockie said at the Jets recovery session on Thursday.
“We battled hard after that second goal, it was great character by the boys to come back and we got what we deserved.
“After getting the 3-points we can go down to Melbourne with confidence and hopefully we can kick start the rest of the season now and bring something back from down there.”
Brockie now sits equal with fellow striker Ryan Griffiths on 6 goals for the season after his brace against Gold Coast but he insists team comes first before personal accolades.
“At the end of the day, whoever is scoring goals it doesn-t really matter as long as we are getting the points and moving up the table,” the Kiwi international said.
“But it is always good to score goals and hopefully they keep coming for the rest of the season.
“The first one was a quality built up and a great delivery by Topor (Stanley) and I got a lucky bounce for the second one and then still a little bit of work to do to score.
“All my goals have been at home this season, so I am looking to go down to Melbourne and get one away to get the away goals started.”
The Jets had a recovery session on Thursday; they will train Friday morning before flying to Melbourne in the afternoon for Saturday night-s Week 14 game against Melbourne Victory.
