The Hyundai A-League draw is here, and it’s a good one for Jets supporters!

With three F3 derbies, 13 home games, and a home-away-home-away schedule until the 15th round of the competition, there’s plenty to smile about for Newcastle fans.

DRAW: The full fixture list for the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season

Here at Jets HQ, we’ve taken a look through the first half of the draw and picked out five key fixtures to keep an eye on as the season approaches.

Round 2 – Saturday 19 October – Central Coast Mariners (A)

With the bye to open proceedings for Newcastle, we’ll have something of an idea as to what to expect from our F3 Derby opponents when we kick off our season away in Gosford.

The last time the Jets travelled to the Central Coast, they went in numbers – four packed bays and then some cheered the boys on to a 2-1 win in December last year.

And does anyone remember back in 2017/18, when we kicked our season off against the Mariners in Gosford? We came home with a 5-1 win.

Round 3 – Saturday 26 October – Adelaide United (H)

It’s a date circled vigorously in every football fan’s calendar – the first home game of the season.

Round 3 will see the boys play host to Adelaide United at McDonald Jones Stadium, and it’ll be the first chance for Newcastle fans to see the likes of Matt Millar and Nick Fitzgerald play in Jets colours at McDonald Jones Stadium.

This is one match you will not want to miss.

Round 6 – Saturday 16 November – Western United (A)

The 2019/20 season will mark the first time since the introduction of the Western Sydney Wanderers that the Hyundai A-League has had a new team.

Round 6 will mark the first time we tackle the competition’s newest side, Western United, away at Geelong’s GMHBA stadium.

Jets fans will be sure to have their eyes glued to the box to see just what the Mark Rudan-coached Western United have in store.

Round 8 – Saturday 30 November – Western Sydney Wanderers (H)

Whenever the Western Sydney Wanderers come to town, Jets sides always rise.

Whether it’s the sea of red and black which attempts to smother Newcastle crowds or the determination of our boys to knock over a NSW rival, we always get up for these games.

Add in the added spice of a few familiar faces on both sides of the park, and our third home game of the season is one you’ll want to be at.

Round 12 – Saturday 28 December – Brisbane Roar (H)

Just days after Christmas, God comes to Newcastle.

Well, kind of. Round 12 marks the first time in the upcoming season the Jets will take on the Robbie Fowler-coached Brisbane Roar.

With a number of ex-Jets amongst the Roar ranks and plenty of new faces lining up for Brisbane this season, this is a December match-up not to be missed.
