Fresh from a bye last weekend and hungry for their second win, Newcastle take on the Westfield W-League Season 1 Champions Brisbane Roar, who surprisingly happen to still be chasing their first three points!

Brisbane Roar oddly enter unfamiliar territory this round, sitting in fifth place on the table, which isn’t a position most of the Roar girls would be used to, based off their last two Westfield W-League seasons results.

Lucky for Roar Coach Geoff Hopkins, his team is packed with plenty of experienced Westfield Matildas who are more than capable in helping turn this season around and into a winning one.

Tameka Butt hasn’t disappointed in this respect, scoring two from two so far, providing Geoff with the exact standard he is seeking from his team. The entire team will be required to play at that standard on Saturday if they fancy competing with this remarkable Jets outfit.

The girls from Newcastle have come flying out of the gates this season much like ‘So you think- in the Melbourne Cup. They currently sit at a very impressive third on the ladder leading into this week-s game.

This self assured looking Jets team displayed some very entertaining football in Week One, beating Adelaide 2-0, closing out the match in the dying minutes.

The lively number 9 Jets striker, Sasha McDonnell, demonstrated her ability and threat to defenders throughout the league, contributing two extraordinary finishes, claiming the win for her team.

With players Hayley Crawford and Westfield Matildas defender Thea Slatyer directing play from the back line, Brisbane Roar will need something out of the ordinary if they plan to come out triumphant this weekend!

Can this Newcastle Jets team make it two wins from two and extend their dream start, or will the Brisbane Roar choose this game to rediscover their winning ways and climb back up the ladder?

To see your Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar women-s football stars in action and cheer your team on, get along to the game where you can buy tickets at the gate.
