The Newcastle Jets return home this weekend after their nil-all draw with Adelaide United to take on Melbourne Victory, who defeated Gold Coast United 3-2 on Sunday.
The Jets will take confidence into the game, after a strong performance at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.
“Whilst we missed some opportunities, we haven-t had a point on the road all year, so to have a clean sheet on the road and to get a point is a positive for us,” coach Gary van Egmond said after the game.
“We are looking forward to Saturday-s game against the Victory, being back at home and we will be looking for 3-points.”
Defender Tarek Elrich agreed the team can find some positives out of the nil-all result.
“We came out with a game plan and that was to keep the ball moving,” Elrich said.
“We kept the ball well in the first half and had a few half chances and we also weathered the storm midway through that first half when they had some repeated chances.
“When they had a player sent off I thought it might have been our chance to get a result away from home, so in that regard it was disappointing but the positive was a clean sheet and a point away from home, which hasn-t happened in a while.”
The Jets host Melbourne Victory on Saturday night at Ausgrid Stadium.
