It was a great day out for our Isuzu UTE A-League as they took down Wellington with a big win in front of a home crowd.
Here are the numbers that mattered from our victory.

63% POSSESSION
For a third time in four games, the Jets held over 60% of possession during a match, and Wellington as a result spent their least amount of time in possession this season, as the Jet’s ran in four goals in what was their maiden victory of the season.
This new playstyle introduced by coach Arthur Papas was described as open and aggressive during the lead up to the season, and with nine goals in their opening four games – it’s beginning to bring dividends.

TOTAL PASSES
In the lead up to the match, the Jets were sitting on top of the league for passes completed, conversely, Wellington had the least – and this trend continued tonight with the Jets completing 497 passes compared to Wellington’s 301.
The accuracy of those passes was the catalyst for the four goals scored, with some fantastic interplay between the players being a highlight of the evening, the Jets had a pass accuracy of 86%, with Wellington Phoenix only just behind with 82%.

HOME GOALS
There’s not much more you can ask for than four goals at home to claim the win, but it has been almost two years since the last time the Jets achieved that feat at McDonald Jones Stadium – a 4-3 victory over the Mariners in 2020.
If we are to look at the last time the Jet’s achieved a 4-0 victory at home, they would be led to a victory in late 2017 against Western Sydney Wanderers, with this round’s win against Wellington also the biggest win on home turf since that game.
