In this week-s edition of Jets Insider, Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets defender Scott Neville is in the hot seat answering questions submitted by the Club-s Members and supporters.

Neville answers questions about the Jets- leaky defence, his error against Melbourne Heart last week and the biggest influences on his career so far.

@JasperS08 asks via Twitter: Scott, what’s been your personal highlight of the season so far?

Scott Neville (SN): I-d have to say the game against Sydney FC. It was Alessandro Del Piero-s first home game in front of 35,000 people and we were able to win 3-2 against the odds. It was a great result for us that really kick-started our season.

Gary Price asks via email: What was going through your head after you made that mistake early on against Melbourne Heart?

SN: It was pretty hard, obviously I knew I-d made a bad mistake, but there-s not much you can do once you-ve made it. It probably took me about 10 or 15 minutes to get over it, which is maybe a bit too long, but you just have to try and put it in the back of your mind and concentrate on the game.

After it happened Ruben (Zadkovich) came over to me and just said there-s nothing you can do about, everyone makes mistakes and he told me to keep my head up and keep going, which helped a lot.

Roger Kildare asks via email: How have you been settling into Newcastle?

SN: I think Newcastle is a lovely place with all the beaches and everything. The lifestyle and all the people here are really nice, which is great as well.

I think not having my friends and family here is tough because you want to spend as much time with them as you can, but on the other hand it-s given me a lot more time to concentrate on my football first and foremost.

Juan Bahamondez: Everyone has been talking about the Jets not keeping a clean sheet yet. What needs to change to get the first one against Brisbane this weekend?

SN: We-re a pretty attacking team and our fullbacks like to get forward and that tends to leave some space in behind for the opposition to counter-attack. If we had a different game plan, we-d probably concede less goals, but at the same time we-d score less as well.

We still need to tighten up at the back, because it-s definitely not good enough conceding two or three goals most weeks. We know we have enough quality in our team to score goals, but we just need to work on our defending.

Jessica Brown asks via email: Who has had the biggest influence on your career?

SN: I-d probably say my dad and all the experienced footballers that I-ve played with over the years. Andy Todd was probably one of the biggest influences for me while I was in Perth and guys like Chris Coyne and Jacob Burns were great as well.

Alistair Walker asks via email: You-re probably one of the most consistent players week-in, week-out in the A-League. What is the secret to maintaining that consistency?

SN: (Laughs) They must have sent that question in before last weekend!

To be honest with you, I just train as hard as I can and I-m always doing extra work wherever I can to help me improve. I just want to be the best player I can be. Obviously you-ll make mistakes along the way, but you just have to forget about them, pick yourself up and concentrate on getting better.

@CameronRGHunter asks via Twitter: Would you say Heskey was a key signing for the Jets?

SN: I think he-s been a key signing for the whole entire A-League. In particular he-s been great for the young players at the Jets. His professionalism is second-to-none and everyone really admires that about him.

Shannon McKain asks via email: Do you support an overseas football team? If so, who and why?

SN: I support Tottenham, pretty much just because it-s where my dad was from. He drilled it into me early on to get behind Tottenham and that-s why I support them.

Kelly Peters asks via email: How did you first get into football?

SN: My dad was a professional player back in England, so football was just a part of my life growing up and it became second nature for me really.

There were always footballs lying around the house and it was a big passion of mine. I enjoyed playing when I was younger and I-ve just kept that going really.

Michelle Youssef asks via email: How do you like to relax away from football?

SN: I enjoy just going to the beach, playing golf and relaxing with my mates. I also enjoy watching football on TV. I think even if I wasn-t playing I-d still be a big fan of the sport.
