Decision-making key says Zadkovich

“When we make the correct decision, work hard for each other and stay focused we can beat anyone,” Zadkovich said.

Newcastle Jets midfielder Ruben Zadkovich said it is his job as captain to make sure his teammates are focused leading in to their Round 20 match against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

“We didn-t play very well on the weekend which is shame and we will be looking to rectify that this weekend,” he said.

“The conditions were tough and I think we came across a Sydney side that had some new faces who were looking to try and press and really put themselves in the game.

“They were a tough side and I think in the end a draw was a decent result.”

Zadkovich said while there are number of areas the team needs to improve on, decision making really let the Jets down against Sydney FC.

“When we make the correct decision, work hard for each other and stay focused we can beat anyone,” he added.

“We showed a lot of character even when we weren-t playing well in trying conditions and 2-1 down.

“A lot of people would go in their shells but I think we had 11 players stand up and try to the very end to ground out a result.

“And that will put us in good stead for the future.”

Saturday’s opposition, the Wanderers, defeated Adelaide United with 10-men on Sunday and are currently sitting in third place heading in to the Campbelltown clash.

“I think it is really impressive what Tony Popovic has done with that squad and he won-t let their standards drop, I can guarantee that,” he added.

“We have been hot and cold this year and were cold on the weekend but hopefully we will be hot on Saturday.”
